Childhood Games That We Relate to Our Adult Lives
We used to have so much fun with all of the games and toys that we played with when we were younger. Today, we have real jobs and real commitments, but they can somehow still all relate to the games and toys of our past.
Carmen Sandiego was a game where we got to travel around the world to find a villain. Nowadays, we have “business trips” where we hopefully get to go to a cool place but have to work, unfortunately. The best part of these trips is expensing the food.
We used to write our feelings in our Dear Diary Journal. Today, we go on Facebook and share our feelings with the world via our status.
We used to buy doodle bears so we could test out our artistic abilities. Now we buy eyeliner and mascara to do our own makeup or our friend’s makeup.
This one is fairly obvious. The dream phone was a phone that boys would talk to you on and you had to guess which boy was telling you that he had a crush on you. Now, if boys aren’t wimps, they will tell you that they have feelings for you via a phone call. The wimpier ones will still use the phone but they’ll text you their feelings after they’re 10 beers deep on a Saturday night.
Hungry Hungry Hippos
The game where the little hippos tried to eat as much as they could in the shortest amount of time. Today, this is what we call “drunk food”. For some reason we think that someone will take our food away so we inhale it as quickly and messily as possible.
Everyone had his or her own beloved little Furby that would talk nonstop. Now we all have that one friend who never shuts up.
The joyous game where we got to go on a shopping spree. Today, we go on shopping sprees all the time, but now we actually have to pay the bill and deal with the fact that we may max out our credit cards at Nordstrom.
The game that is said to be the original “Truth or Dare”. In present times, we play games like “Would You Rather” and “Never Have I Ever”. The questions aren’t as pleasant as they used to be.
This was the little game where we got to sketch outfits and design our own clothes. Today, we are not as motivated after a long day at work so we just turn on Project Runway and watch other people design cool clothes.
I’m sure that we all remember this game. It was the game where you couldn’t go to the party unless you finished all of your chores first. Now, we frantically try to get all of our work done by the end of the work day so we can enjoy happy hour and drink away our sorrows.
Perfection was the game where we had to race to put all of the pieces into the puzzle before the timer went off. In adult world, we race to put together the presentation by the deadline before our boss freaks out on us.
Lil Miss Magic Hair
Lil Miss Magic Hair was the game where we brushed the doll’s hair and it turned another color. Today, we go to the salon to get highlights or a color change.
We all remember that power wheels were our first true cars. At 16, most of us got a car from our parents and it was a wonderful life event. Today, most of us have the same car from when we were 16 except we’re responsible for paying for insurance and car payments.... What a drag.
This one is plain and simple. Instead of playing the Planet Hollywood game, we watch E!
The infamous game where we tried to get all of the balls into Mr. Bucket before he spit them out. Now we have beer pong!
Do you remember this game? It was the one where we spun the little doll to see how high we could get her to go. Now some of us try and get high, but in a different way.
Twister was the game that “ties you up in knots”. Today, we can consider Twister our sex life. Knotting yourself into different sex poses and twisting yourself into positions that you didn’t think were possible.
Tag was a game that was all about the chase. Now, instead of chasing fellow players, we chase around the men we like. We chase them all around and hopefully catch them and make them ours.
The beloved handheld machine where we got to feed the little animal and clean up poop. Now, some of us have our own pets and get to feed them and care for them. The only thing that is more fun on the game was the easy poop clean up.
Pretty Pretty Princess
This game was definitely one of the best games on the list. We got to dress up with crowns and jewelry and feel like royalty for sheer enjoyment. Today we dress ourselves in tight clothing and dangly earrings in hopes that we’ll pick up a man at the bar.
